Adult Summer Reading 2009

Who says kids have all the fun? This summer, GPL is going to prove that wrong with our first ever adult summer reading program. You can read 1 book or 20, it’s up to you. Sign up begins June 22. Visit the library to pick up information on our program.

SUMMER READING RAFFLE
There will be a raffle at our summer reading finale ice cream social on Thursday July 30 from 7-8 PM, and anyone can win our great prizes from local businesses and artisans! Fill out a raffle ticket  for each book you read or audiobook you listened to (reading to kids counts – one ticket for 5 kids’ books read), and we’ll have a drawing at our ice cream social to pick the winners. The more books you read, the better your chances of winning!

Thanks to the local businesses and artisans that have generously donated prizes for our raffle.

Bun Appetit Bakery – two $5 gift certificates
Janet Jacobs Healing Massage -  1/2 hour massage gift certificate
Brittany Station – two $10 gift certificates
The Ice Cream Caboose – three $5 gift certificates
Thou Art Gallerage – handmade bracelet
Local artisans – handmade crafts

If you are a local business owner or artisan who is interested in donating a prize for our summer reading raffle, we would love to hear from you! Call the library at 898-5055 or email director@grotonpubliclibrary.org

(The First National Bank of Groton donated $250 to the library’s summer reading program to aid us in providing the great family entertainment on Thursday nights in July.)

RACHEL DICKINSON READING
Monday, July 20 from 7-8 PM, local author Rachel Dickinson will read from her book Falconer on the Edge: a man, his birds, and the vanishing landscape of the American West. Refreshments will be provided, and the author will take questions from the audience at the end.
